Your images are never uploaded

This is the most important thing on this page, so it comes first. When you select or drop a file into the converter on this site, that file is not transmitted anywhere. It is read from your disk into your own browser's memory, decoded there by a WebAssembly build of the open-source libheif library, and written back out as a PNG by your browser.

We therefore never receive, process, see, or store your images. We do not know their filenames, their contents, their dimensions, or how many you converted. This is not a promise about our conduct — it is a consequence of how the site is built. You can verify it by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and converting a file: no request carrying your image is made. You can also disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and convert files anyway.

Converted files are held in your browser's memory only, and are gone as soon as you close or reload the tab.

What we do collect

We may collect basic, aggregate analytics about site usage — such as which pages are viewed, the country a visit came from, and which site referred it. This information is not tied to your identity and is never linked to any file you convert. It exists so we can tell which pages are useful.

We do not ask for, and have no way to store, an account, an email address, or a password.

Cookies and local storage

This site stores one item in your browser's local storage: whether you chose the light or dark theme. It never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. If and when it does, the following applies and this section will be updated with the date on which advertising began:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visitingGoogle Ads Settings. Alternatively, users may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visitingwww.aboutads.info.

Advertising would never change the fact that your files are not uploaded. That is a property of the converter itself, not of how the site is funded.

Third-party services

The site is served from Cloudflare's network. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information required to deliver a page to you, such as your IP address. This happens for every website you visit and is not specific to this one.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since the site collects no personal information at all, there is nothing for a child or an adult to have collected.

Your rights

Data protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, please get in touch.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
